Airtel has been known to cheat customers since time immemorial, but this is heights of succulency – they just sent me a broadband bill AFTER DISCONNECTING the broadband line on July 1, and taking away all the equipments the same day, and a prank call from a recovery agency claiming to be from Delhi court, causing a whole lot of frustration!
I received bill of Rs1322 which i refused to pay since i was NOT EVEN PRESENT at those premises after July 1, and there was no Airtel connection either!
My airtel Account ID – 16503655
My old landline number – 080-40959541
Amount in question – Rs 1322
Even today I spoke to nodal officer, and they accepted there was no usage after June 1, and the bill shouldn’t have been generated. A guy called Vinay picked up the phone on their nodal office number 080-49081140.
Complaint number – 10538708 – which is still UNRESOLVED!
Payment receipt Number – 34-19751536 (I had to make the payment unnecessarily!)
I had sent an email to their legal team on Nov 28, and was promised a resolution by Dec 1, but never got any replies; rather they apparently filed a case in Delhi court, and today i got a call – but not from Airtel, rather so-called Delhi local court!
I’m the MD of a Pvt Ltd, and i was shocked to get a call from so-called Delhi court for Rs1322 claimed by Airtel, and had to make a payment (disturbing my busy schedule, canceling important meetings & appointments because I was mentally disturbed by all this non-sense).
And, guess what it turns out that Airtel has hired a private agency for bill recovery; (see this page) who bluff around, claiming to be from Delhi Court (I sensed that something was fishy, but I made the payment to ensure that Airtel is NOT in a position to put any penalty in future!)
I’m going to teach them a lesson, lodge a police complaint those people who had called, a counter case, and claim for mental harassment against Airtel for wastage of my time, phone bills, petrol, litigation charges and everything!
Here are the details of those people that had called from recovery agency -
Anil Mishra (I’m sure this is not the real name) – 07830943168
So-called Delhi court – 7351324794
Landline +911408909913
It’s pretty evident that these guys have been hired by Airtel, otherwise if they wanted money then they could have asked me to deposit money in THEIR ACCOUNT not to Airtel’s account!
Apparently, Airtel is not alone in this dirty game, but currently my target is only Airtel, as this war has come down to personal level. You can read more about such unscrupulous calls here
AIRTEL you’ve messed with the wrong person – I’m going to ask ALL my employees, friends, relatives, and acquaintances to cancel ALL Airtel connections – I’ll definitely make you lose lakhs of rupees of monthly business right away (much more in the longer run, coz’ I know at least 1000+ airtel users which spend Rs1000-2000/month and I’ll make sure min 80% of them cancel their connection within a month or two).
Oh yeah and by the way I had applied for a dedicated internet lease line, paid Rs25k advance, and waited for more than 4 months to get refund – I’m going to claim FD interest for that amount, and a case of mental harassment & poor business ethics too! AIRTEL you’re going to pay for messing with me; I’ve already THROWN all my airtel numbers, and asked my employees to port to Vodafone TODAY! (we had corporate Airtel plans, but not any more!)
My friend is also facing a similar issue and she has received a WRONG bill of Rs4k instead of reg broadband bill of just R1300+, and instead of accepting their fault, Airtel has issued a legal notice, and threatened to take legal action.
And, I swear I’m not going to leave my Rs.1322 that I’ve UNNECESSARILY PAID (coz’ I couldn’t afford my rapport to be put at stake due to a STUPID tech glitch or Airtel’s shoddy methodologies of earning money), but now ball is in my court!
I’ll combine all complaints and launch a MASTER CASE against Airtel – and Karnataka heads, and all key role players in Airtel, you better beware coz’ you can’t get away eating others HARD-EARNED money just like that!
I’ll launch a country-wide protest against Airtel, and ensure that the company loses considerable volume of business over next few months – that’s my promise!!! It’s not about just 1300 odd rupees – it’s about business ethics; RIGHT & WRONG – and Airtel definitely needs to be taught a lesson so that they NEVER EVER think of doing it AGAIN to anybody!
You can read more complaints here & my complaint here.
Note to Airtel: If you’d have come to me asking for a donation of Rs 1000 or begged, I’d have gladly given you even Rs10k (I’ve tipped lot more than Rs1322 to many waiters to date, so you could have also joined the list!), but now I’ll try my level best to take you to the verge of bankruptcy by encouraging people to file cases of mental harassment, and spread awareness about your collection SCAM throughout the country! You just ruined my 1 day, and ate Rs1322 – now you see what I do! I know I can’t get you banned in India with such a small thing, but when Apple can be sued, so can Airtel be! (if this was U.S./Canada I’d have certainly put those prank callers behind the bars too, but unfortunately it’s not so easy in India!)

I am an Airtel user since 2004 and I had been really impressed about Airtel’s network & customer service. In Oct 2010, I had taken a new broadband connection
Home Shop Plan.
Home Shop Plan Details:
Monthly Rental: 1240/- + Taxes
No. of Connections: 2 numbers (08040989670 & 08040989669)
Speed: 1 Mbps each with 50 GB limit
Calls: Free 300 mins of local calls
I had used this connection almost for 8 months and in the month of July 2011, I had given a shifting request for 08040989669, for which Airtel promised me to shift it within 3 working days. But after a month I got a call that there was no feasibility for which the connection was cancelled without my notice. But surprisingly, there is feasibility in the SAME AREA, and they are providing new connections from the same DP box.
And in the month of Nov 2011 another number 08040989670 was canceled. Below mentioned is the story:
On Nov 29th 2011 I called Airtel for asking replacement of Modem due to some faulty when they refused to give the replacement I gave a cancellation request to Mr. Nadeem (Airtel Retention Department) Later on Dec 5th I received a call from Mr David and he convinced me to stay back with Airtel and promised me that he will resolve the issue. Based on his commitment I retained the connection but on 9th Dec 2011 the connection was deactivated without my notice. When I started asking
Airtel regarding this, they are accepting their mistake, but they are not ready to reactivate the connection.
Later I got a call from another Airtel executive stating that he would reactivate the connection with the same plan and took the documents from me for reactivation but again to my surprise I got a new connection with some other plan for which I had not applied.
I work from home and rely upon internet to finish my daily work, and due to all this mess I lost my salary of 9K for the month of Nov. And for sure Airtel is going to pay for that.
I’ll be filing a case in consumer court as well as civil court against Airtel and asking for a 1 lakh compensation!

It is like one and every one has been duped in a small or a big way by Airtel. Thank god I got my mobile number, which was Airtel, ported to Vodafone.
I have an unlimited Airtel broadband connection for last two and half years. I have been repeatedly promised for an anti virus PC protection that I am entitled to as per my plan, which they have not given me till date. On top of it almost every single month i get a mail from them regarding my address documents, which I have already scanned and mailed to them at least thrice. My Airtel broadband number is 080-42161959. Even this morning I received a call from Airtel from a number 1409326225, in which a lady asked me for my e mail ID, so that she can send me the details of the anti virus PC protection, but looks like I still have to wait longer to get my copy.
Thank God once again that I have McAfee looking after my system. In nut shell, these guys are so not dependable.
Update – Airtel lost 116 potential connections from my apartment – Windsor Four Seasons, Bannerghatta Road, as I’ve warned my association about their bad ethics, and we’re now going ahead with other vendors! (I was only communicating with Airtel for processing order for 100+ new broadband & landline connections in my apartment on behalf of association!)
I’ll circulate this complaint to all major apartments in B’lore, personally speak to the associations and spread awareness in this regard, so that NO MORE INNOCENT CUSTOMERS suffer such mental harassment EVER AGAIN!
I’ll keep updating this page, until the minimum count of 100,000 and until the day I get written apology from Airtel in this regard with full compensation for mental harassment, and acceptance letter for their mistakes!
AIRTEL Broadband Connection can be installed at your house within few hours, but resolving issues related to bills, connectivity, internet speed, and plan migrations apparently takes several months. Representatives from AIRTEL reach your home at lightening speed to collect cheques, but they’re least bothered to provide customer service.
Funny thing, you cannot understand the language of customer support representative from Airtel, being the country’s best network provider, it is shame on their part!
I’ve had my share of troubles with Airtel and I’m also going to switch my mobile & broadband provider TODAY!
Same story here, I had a connection in Ghaziabad no. 0120-4298201 which was registered to my wife’s name.
my line got completely disconnected on 10th june and i paid bill till billing cycle ending on 8th july 11. placed request for disconnection since there was no feasibility of reconnection. but they kept on piling up bill upto more than rs. 5000.
They even sent me in email in oct saying “your problem has been resolved, thanks for choosing airtel” but my line was completely broken. They finally disconnected my no. on nov 11 after lot of arguments and harsh emails to them, but bill was still there despite of no usage.
2 days ago , my wife got a call from tis hazari court saying that there is a recovery case. she told them to get lost!
This is very shameful on airtel’s part, i wont recommend airtel to anybody, and we should definitely sue them!!!
